The MTCIA wishes to thank US Representative Denny Rehberg for standing up for the traditional Montana value of self determination, and for showing his support for Montana citizens facing the imposition of federal policies that hurt our state. We believe Montanan’s should decide for themselves what is best for their own citizens – not the Obama Administration.
On May 9, the US House of Representatives considered the Rohrabacher-Hinchey-Farr-
Denny is a house-hold name in the state of Montana. He has served as Montana’s Congressman for six terms. He is a proud American and loves his state. Mr. Rehberg is a loving husband, father, rancher, and a former small business owner. Congressman Rehberg understands what his state needs and knows how to get it done. His knowledge and experience is invaluable. Please help Mr. Rehberg in his campaign for US Senator in November. Visit his site at http://www.dennyrehberg2012.
I hope you’re right about Senator Reyhberg. Too many times I’ve seen a leader show themselves as hypocrites by saying one thing when meaning another. Just saying. Thanks!
I wonder if there’s a way to let them know the specific reason you’re contributing. Perhaps email him at the @house.gov email after making the donation? hmmmmm…
he will say anything to keep the paychecks flowing in the biggest problem that faces us is career politicians which denny is.

invaluable? have you heard what he has to say about medicinal cannabis?
Thanks Denny for supporting a bill that you knew would not pass anyway. Political win-win for you! For some reason I can’t get on board with the last paragraph. Sounds like you are trying to feed us some of the GOP BS. He “understands what his state needs and knows how to get it done” sounds more like a campaign add. If you can get Rehberg to explain the reasoning behind his vote, in public, then I might be able to gag down the last paragraph.
no doubt
has this become the mtciafesto
You are mistaken in implying that she has written anything on this web site. That’s not to say it couldn’t happen in the future, though.
you are mistaken in implying that i was implying “she” had written aything
there would be nothing innapropriate with that imo
rehbergs voting record is one thing and i’m glad to see the mtcia posting it. this last paragraph, on the other hand, is something more suited to a politially based site. hence my remark. also if this doesn’t sound like an endorsement i don’t know what does. it’s sound like it came off of denny’s site and if it didn’t he should steal it.
that aside, keep up the good work mtcia!
Go see him speak in person. He’s a liar with a nervous tick.
The last paragraph of this post has no business here. Political rhetoric is for other sites. Please avoid this kind of thing in the future.
This is great but based on his record I will never vote for Rehberg, besides isn’t mtcia a non-profit? If so your not supposed to endorse political candidates of either party.
I can see how this can be viewed as an endorsement, but that really was not the intent.
With that said, Rehberg is the only federally elected official from Montana that has attempted to stand up against the federal government regarding our medical marijuana law. In 2007, he also voted in favor of an amendment that would have stopped Department of Justice funds from being used to prevent states from implementing their state laws regarding the distribution, possession, and cultivation of medical marijuana.
The only time Baucus and Tester have come to our defense was after the ATF released their memo last fall regarding the sale of guns and ammunition to medical marijuana patients. The same thing can be said for our State AG that is currently running for governor. They don’t seem to mind the impact that the federal government has on patients as long as they don’t own guns.
Wow I didn’t know about the 2007 vote. Maybe I will rethink my view of Rehberg.
I did look into the defense of Montanans in regard to the ATF memo. Here is what I found(per the GF Tribune)
Democratic Sen. Jon Tester wrote to Attorney General Eric Holder and the memo’s author urging them to “immediately reconsider this misguided effort.”
“These regulatory changes infringe upon the privacy and Second Amendment rights of Montanans while placing an unreasonable burden upon the small business owners who sell firearms and ammunition,” Tester wrote.
“It is unacceptable that law-abiding citizens would be stripped of their Second Amendment rights simply because they hold a state-issued card authorizing the possession and use of marijuana for medicinal purposes,” Tester added.
Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg, through his spokesman Jed Link, criticized the policy and the Obama administration.
“Between the ATF clamping down on gun rights and two new anti-gun Supreme Court justices, Montanans’ Second Amendment rights are once again under fire from Washington,” Link said.
Sen. Max Baucus said he will continue to defend individual gun rights.
“I’m concerned to hear ATF may be impeding the rights of law-abiding folks,” Baucus said. “Individual gun rights must be protected, and I’ll never stop fighting to make sure they stay intact.”
Sen Tester is the only one who mentions Marijuana in his statement. Sorry Rehberg the only thing you talked about were guns.
Give credit where credit is due. Mr Rehberg made the right decision this time and I applaud him for it. However, I would not vote for him based on a single vote he’s cast when literally every other statement he’s made and vote he’s cast has been contrary to my own beliefs. This man is the definition of puppet and he’s never done a thing for this state save for naming a couple of bridges and other meaningless garbage.
Had John Tester been given the opportunity to make the same vote and made the wrong decision I could fully understand this endorsement (and that is exactly what this is), but as it stands there is no evidence at all Denny Rehberg would be a better Senator in regards to the cannabis issue or any other than John Tester. This was a political calculation by a lifelong politician and a disingenuous attempt to court a constituency he’s ignored or marginalized until it served his cause. I’m certainly not falling for it.
I would suggest making any political endorsements to a group that is notoriously hard to nail down politically is dangerous territory. Especially given this is more of a social issue than a political one.
Better yet I will never give the MTCIA money since they want to get behind a dirtbag like Rehberg. You want to know why everyones getting investigated in Billings…just ask good ol’ Denny.
212 republicans voted against it, only 28 republicans voted for it. Rehberg is playing politics, he is COMPLETELY anti-marijuana.
Here’s the vote link

Neither Max or Denny are in favor of medical cannabis. Denny is an idiot and would rather have everyone of the users of this medicine in prison. Please don’t allow his bullshit comments to ruin this organization.
Wow! Rehberg really? I have to admit Ive signed numerous petitions written letters and made calls on the behalf of several medical mj organizations. Every single one was knocked down by our collective legislators. I have voted as a dem my entire voting life. I have never felt as abandoned as I do in this political moment. Both Tester and Baucus have drawn their line in the sand against medical mj. And given one decent candidate who leaned toward a progressive agenda, I would vote, support, advocate, what ever it takes to get that person in office. Un fortunately, That person hasn’t shown his or her face in the political arena. I would almost be tempted to give Denny a nod on this single issue alone just to make a point. Point being we have been sold down the river by the very people we elected to represent us. However, looking at Denny’s past record and the idiocracy being pushed by the GOP. I would be very concerned about this man as a senator. I’ve sen him vote almost exclusively down party lines, and he chooses the big money over people on just about every occasion. I think it’s telling that he would come around on this issue. It seems as though maybe, finally our politicians are doing the math. There are a lot of us out here pushing to end prohibition. They hate to talk about this issue in the public forum and it’s time for us to bring this discussion out into the open. If a candidate is out campaigning in the public eye get them to open the dialog. Force these people to take a stand publicly, not just sweep the issue under the table like it doesn’t exist. We should know which side of the fence these folks stand on. Even if patients and supporters are cowing now doesn’t mean they won’t flex their muscle in the privacy of the voting booth. Let’s send these two faced pocket lining double talkers packing. I’ve been in this fight for at least forty years and I truly hope our time is now.
